The rules governing prison visits:

all the important information about the prison area where visits with the prisoners can take place.

Before the prisoner can receive visits for the first time, he or she must apply for a general permission, according to which he or she shall in principle be entitled to receive a visitor(s).

After this kind of permission has been granted, appointments for visitors can be arranged by phone on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The telephone number for visitors' appointments is as follows:

0521 4896-230

All persons attending such a scheduled visit must be indicated with their names on the list of persons attending the visit. Persons who are not listed by name will not be allowed to participate in the visit.

Visitors must be in possession of valid identification documents. For a single private visit, no more than three (3) visitors are allowed. Private visitors are required to arrive at the institution no later than 30 minutes before the start of the visit due to the visitor access control procedure assigned there.

This is the only way to ensure the smooth running of the visits to everyone's satisfaction.

Visitors who appear to be under the influence of alcohol, medication or drugs will not be allowed to enter the facility. Before entering the facility, visitors will have to undergo a metal detector check and a body search in accordance with the Prison Act (§ 19 para. 5 StVollzG NRW). This control can lead to a delay in the reception of the visitors who have been invited to attend afterwards.
